Anxiety and stress

Anxiety and stress therapy in London & online

Anxiety and stress are terms we use often, but they can mean very different things for different people. Anxiety can show up as constant worry, a racing mind, or a sense of dread that doesn’t seem to have a clear cause. It can also be physical: tension, a tight chest, difficulty sleeping, or a body that feels permanently on alert. Stress, similarly, can build slowly over time until it becomes difficult to switch off, think clearly, or feel present in our own lives.

When we are anxious, stressed or afraid, we experience the world through an incredibly narrow lens. We struggle to connect with others, our thinking becomes rigid, and we can often feel very alone. When we are dysregulated, we cannot think clearly. Anxiety and stress are not weaknesses, and they are not something to be ashamed of. They are often the mind and body’s way of responding to pressure, uncertainty, or unresolved experiences from our past. Left unexplored, they can start to affect how we work, how we connect with others, and how we feel about ourselves.

In therapy, we would work together to understand what is driving your anxiety or stress, rather than simply managing the symptoms. Each person’s experience is different, and so is the way forward.

How can therapy help?

Beginning therapy is a courageous and positive step, and I can provide a safe and supportive environment to explore thoughts, feelings and concerns you may find difficult to talk about with anyone else.

Therapy provides space to examine, recognise, and take control of our thinking, allowing us to identify behaviours and patterns that may be ingrained in our internal narrative. Over time, this can help us respond to difficult situations with more clarity and choice, rather than reacting from a place of fear or overwhelm.

Working together, we can begin to understand what lies beneath your anxiety or stress, as well as managing how it presents day to day. This allows for change that is more lasting, and a greater sense of ease in how you move through your life.
